51Ʒ�� University will host candidates for the scholarship interviews in the month of November, giving first year and transfer students the opportunity to receive $33,000 per year in scholarships for the duration of their time at the university. Sister Mary Arthur Schramm, a retired nursing professor, started the university’s nurse anesthesia program more than 50 years ago. Today, that is a doctoral program in nurse anesthesia at the university’s Sioux falls location.

“We want the best nursing students to come to 51Ʒ�� to experience a hands-on, rich learning environment in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition,” said Greg Franz, vice president for enrollment management. The scholarship would replace other awards that a student might receive, like extra-curricular or merit scholarships, but can be combined with outside scholarships and grants.

Students must have a 3.8 unweighted GPA to be considered for the scholarship interview, which includes meeting with nursing faculty, sitting in on a nursing class, complimentary lunch on campus, and a faculty-guided tour of the Avera Science & Nursing Center.
